I’m Alexandra.
I am a Cornish book cover designer and illustrator currently residing and working remotely in rural Belgium with my husband, two sons, our tuxedo cat, Merlin and pomsky pup, Onyx.
Before transitioning to freelance work in 2023, I accumulated experience in trade publishing houses in London since 2012. My career began in the adult fiction department at HarperCollins UK, followed by a position at Bonnier Books UK where I focused on adult trade and children's YA/Middle grade covers. Subsequently, I worked at Welbeck (now part of the Headline Group), designing both adult fiction and non-fiction covers. This diverse background has enriched my freelance portfolio, allowing me to work across various genres within commercial book covers for indie authors/publishers and trade publishers alike.
I have a strong affinity for romance, historical and fantasy covers using my own illustration and calligraphy where I can. Give me a chance to illustrate a sword or an animal with a vintage-inspired border and I’m in heaven.
I also an avid reader, walker, gamer and coffee fan… although my artistic talents do not extend to latte art.
